PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Crowds filled Lemon Hill Sunday for another day of Fan Fest. Fans watched Canada advance over South Africa in the first game of the World Cup knockout round.

“I thought there would be hundreds of thousands of Canadians here celebrating, but there's like a couple dozen of us,” Canadian fan John said.

John said that’s all they needed after a big win for his team.

“I can't be angry at the result though,” he said.

Canada made history, winning their first-ever knockout-round game on Sunday after good offensive plays in the second half.

Zanele wasn’t too upset about her team’s loss.

“We’ll be back the next World Cup, proudly South African, and we'll be ready for a fight. End of the day. This is soccer. We understand, but we fought a good fight,” she said.

Leah was still proud of South Africa, and happy there was a place to gather with other fans.

“Thank you, Fan Fest, for bringing the vibe. It's amazing out here. It's the only place where it feels like it is a World Cup,” she said.
