PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 9-year-old girl is dead after the car she was riding in crashed into the back of a parked minibus that had been converted into a water ice truck.
Police say it happened around 11:30 Wednesday night near Germantown and Eerie avenues in Hunting Park.
The girl’s 33-year-old mother was driving a red Honda with her two daughters inside. She was going eastbound on Eerie Avenue when she lost control and crashed into the back of the bus.
The mother and the girl’s 7-year-old sister are in stable condition.
At this point, police say there’s no sign that the mother was impaired, but she may have been speeding.
Crash scene investigators found debris from the Honda 100 yards before the crash, so they believe there might have been a separate initial crash that made the mother lose control.
