PHILADLEPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities said they have recovered the car at the center of a abduction and rape of a 12-year-old girl in North Philadelphia over the weekend.
Police said the white Ford Taurus was found at 54th and Poplar streets in West Philadelphia.
According to investigators, the girl had been asleep in the backseat Friday night when her mother had left the car running with keys in the ignition.
They said a man took the car and drove off, and at some point, the girl woke up.
Detectives said the suspect raped her near Broad street and Roosevelt Boulevard, then pushed her out of the car and left her there. Officers found her standing alone on the sidewalk shortly before 10 p.m.
The suspect is described as a thin Black man wearing dark clothing.
Investigators are searching for video and processing the car to see if any evidence was left behind.
