PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — After a two-year absence due to the pandemic, a popular happy hour program that takes place at dozens of Center City bars and restaurants will return this summer.
"Center City SIPS" begins on June 1 and runs every Wednesday after 5 p.m. through August 31.
"$6 cocktails. $5 wines. $4 beer plus half-price appetizers," detailed Michelle Shannon, vice president of marketing for the Center City District.
"We're really excited for our returning workers to be able to experience that again. It is also, quite frankly, an economic driver for our bars and restaurants that have struggled over the past two years and are really excited about inviting everyone back," she said.
"If you loved Center City and you loved businesses that have made you feel happy and welcomed and loved as a customer, this is really a way to support them and really bring them back to the vitality that was pre-pandemic."
Because many business have been struggling through the pandemic, the Center City District is waving all fees for participating establishments this year.
