PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Two men have been charged in separate and unrelated cases of threatening judges in Bucks County.

Bucks County District Attorney Joe Khan said five judges received threats, in incidents that date back to last year.

In one case, officials said 70-year-old retired California attorney Timothy Alexander Murphy sent threatening emails to the staff of a Bucks County Court of Common Pleas judge.

According to the District Attorney’s Office, staff members received an email on Dec. 11, containing threats that referenced an upcoming retention election and the judge’s lifespan. Staff received a follow-up email the next day.

Investigators determined those emails originated from Murphy’s Yahoo account. He was arraigned Tuesday on one count of terroristic threats.

The second case involves Joseph D. Supik, a prisoner at a state correctional facility in Huntingdon. Officials say the Bucks County Clerk of Courts got a letter postmarked July 6, from SCI Huntingdon. That letter contained threats directed at four different judges who had presided over Supik’s previous criminal cases in Bucks.

Supik has been charged with four counts each of retaliation against a judge and terroristic threats.
