NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — Cherry Hill Mall updated its code of conduct and is activating a policy requiring parental supervision of minors on Saturday nights.
The policy goes into effect April 5 at 4 p.m. A mall spokeswoman says this is in line with what other malls in the area are doing to keep the shopping experience safe and enjoyable for everyone.
The policy is in effect for the entire mall, including parking lots and garages, mall walkways and any corridor leading to the mall except stores with exterior entrances.
Mall officials say proof will be required if the minor or adult supervisor’s age cannot be determined. Those who do not provide proper identification will be asked to leave. Acceptable forms of identification include a photo ID from a state agency, school or employer that lists date of birth.
A guardian over 21 may accompany up to four youths. At least one of the youths must be the child of the parent or guardian.
Those under 18 working in the mall will be allowed access without a parent or guardian. Proof of work status will be required.
Cherry Hill Mall officials say they will continue working with local police to enforce these and other rules to support a positive experience for every guest.
In 2017, there were five arrests as hundreds of teenagers swarmed the mall, fighting each other and disrupting shoppers.
