CHERRY HILL, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — Nonprofit organizations in Cherry Hill struggling through the pandemic are now eligible for grant money.

The groups can now apply for federal grant funding provided through the CARES Act. The program provides up to $20,000 in assistance to help with expenses related to the coronavirus.

"It can go towards reimbursement for past expenses, existing programs or new projects going forward," said Cherry Hill Mayor Susan Shin Angulo.

Cherry Hill Township was allocated federal funds through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Angulo said nonprofit organizations continue to prove their value in the community.

"People are in need of just basic necessities," she said. "Whether you are a food pantry or the Jewish Federation, this grant will tremendously help out."
