Police: Man steals two cars, leads police in a chase across King of Prussia

Authorities say he also assaulted several, including a pizza delivery driver and a K-9

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Chester County man is in police custody after they say he stole two cars and led police in a chase across Upper Merion Township Monday evening.

The slew of robberies started around 6:20 p.m. Police say Jacob Reck assaulted a tow truck driver at the Midas auto repair shop on Dekalb Pike in King of Prussia. He tried to steal the tow truck itself but instead made off with a car that was being unloaded.

As he was driving, officials say Reck rear-ended a pizza delivery driver at a red light, then veered off the road and hit a tree across from a KinderCare on North Henderson Road.

When the delivery driver pulled over at the preschool to wait for the authorities, police say Reck assaulted him, pulled him from his car and drove away in it.

He made his way into Norristown, where he was flagged by local law enforcement. A chase ensued, and Reck hit two other cars in the process.

Police say Reck jumped out of the stolen car and attempted to steal a third, but he was apprehended by officers. While they took him into custody, Reck assaulted several officers and a police K-9.

The delivery driver, one officer and Reck were treated at the hospital for minor injuries.

He awaits arraignment on multiple charges, including car robbery and related offenses.
