
PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Chester High School student was taken into police custody Tuesday morning after officials said he tried to bring a gun to school.
A 16-year-old tried to get past the school’s security checkpoint with a pistol just before 8 a.m., officials said. The school security team contacted Chester police.
Authorities said the student was detained by security staff and taken into custody by the school resource officer.
Chester police commended the Chester Upland School District’s security team and the police department’s school resource officer for their swift actions.
