PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A round of gun violence on Christmas Eve in Philadelphia left two people dead and four others injured in separate shootings.
The first three shootings of the night happened around 8 p.m. in the city’s north and northeast, and blocks away from the Philadelphia Zoo — all within the span of 10 minutes.
Police say two 18-year-olds and a 24-year-old were shot in those incidents. The men are recovering and in stable condition.
A few hours later, the deadly shootings happened.
First, around 10 p.m., at 39th and Brown streets in the Mantua section of the city, police officers got there and found two victims in a white Toyota, said Inspector DF Pace.
“It appears that a gunman or possibly multiple gunmen pulled up to the vehicle as it was parked and opened fire multiple times to the driver’s side of the vehicle,” Pace said.
He says a passenger in her 20s was killed. And a 33-year-old was hit at least eight times, and he is in critical condition at the hospital.
A half-hour later, at C Street and Roosevelt Boulevard in Olney, police say, an 18-year-old was found dead on the sidewalk. Police say it was an execution-style killing, with at least 40 shots fired.
Police have announced no arrests, and they say the incidents are not related.
