CHESTER, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — The roof of an abandoned church in Chester, Delaware County collapsed during a three-alarm fire early Tuesday morning.

This building is located at Parker and Union streets, just off of Route 291.

The fire broke out around 4 a.m.

Chester fire officials called for three alarms, meaning they got help from nearby fire companies. It took firefighters a couple of hours to get it under control.

Neighbors like Marion Tillery woke up and noticed his electricity was out.

"Asked my wife what was going on; the lights were shining out there. By the time I got dressed and all, came out, walked a block down and noticed the old church was on fire," he said.

There were no injuries reported, and no evacuations were required. Power has been restored to nearby neighbors' houses.

The fire remains under investigation by the ATF, which is a standard procedure for a fire at a house of worship.
