PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A police officer has been stabbed in Coatesville.
Investigators say the officer was responding to a theft at the Turkey Hill market on West Kings Highway late Friday afternoon. A source says that while the officer was talking to a suspect, that suspect pulled a knife and stabbed him in the face and the back of his head.
The suspect is now in custody.
The officer has been taken to Reading Hospital and has been placed in stable condition. He will need surgery and more than 25 stiches and staples.
