PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — If you are feeling stressed and overwhelmed from the burdens of the COVID-19 pandemic, registration is now open for an online conference on how to deal with the emotional toll.

The Chester County Economic Development Council is hosting a virtual conference on April 21 to tackle that topic.

Chief Operating Officer Mike Grigalonis says the focus is on health care workers, as industry experts are predicting pandemic-induced symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder for front-line workers. However, everyone is welcome to dial in.

“The idea here is to organize a panel of speakers to provide insight and observations into what some of these chronic stresses might be, what to be looking out for," said Grigalonis.

"If these things do manifest themselves in the workplace, what can I do as an employer or business leader to try and support and help my employee who might be experiencing those psychological challenges?”

Several speakers will dive into a number of topics, including what it means for Pennsylvania now that it's a trauma-informed state.

“What are going to be some of the trends that emerge post-COVID? In this case, we’re talking about some of the psychological impacts on our workforce.”

Grigalonis says so many people are feeling beaten down from the disruption of their daily lives. The purpose of the conference is to bring awareness to mental health issues that are often brushed aside.

Tickets are $35. Click here for more information on the speakers and to register for the conference.
