PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — An off-duty police officer is recovering after he was attacked in North Philadelphia by a man who stole his gun.
It happened just before midnight on Thursday near 10th and Brown streets.
Chief Inspector Scott Small told NBC10 it’s not yet clear what led to the attack, but at some point, the suspect took the officer’s firearm and other belongings.
Responding officers rushed the off-duty officer to a hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries.
Small said investigators have since apprehended the man they believe is responsible, after matching him to surveillance footage from the scene.
There’s no word yet on what charges he could face. The investigation is ongoing.
