PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The treatment of dementia in its various forms is a major issue as our population ages. Slowly, we are starting to understand both the genetic and environmental causes of dementia.
A recent report in the Journal of the American Medical Association has uncovered a potential cause: environmental pollution.
It is not a surprise that coal and automobile emissions were seen as contributing factors, but two other forms of air pollution had an even greater link: agriculture and wildfires.
According to the report, sulfate particles seem to play a role.
