PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — With Christmas over, the season for holiday gift returns is in full swing.
The holiday season looks different for many people returning gifts this year as the pandemic continues, but shoppers like Alison Schadel, who made the trip out to Cedarbrook Shopping Center in the Mount Airy section of Philadelphia, said she had it covered.
"As long as we have a mask and social distance, we will be fine," said Schadel, who was on her third trip to stores returning games she bought for her children.
"I returned a game to Target, a game to Five Below, and a game here at Marshall's," she said.
As for Shania, she would rather be at home than out in the cold, but she was thankful lines were shorter than usual this year, as she ventured out to return her mother-in-law's Christmas gift.
"I had to go all the way to not one but two different malls to return my mother-in-law's Uggs," she said. "I got them a size too small."
Shopper Adowa was making a quick trip to the mall, but said she was trying to keep her returns to a minimum during the pandemic, out of concern for risk of exposure.
"Returns puts me at a higher risk of exposure to COVID," she said, "so anything I'm buying I'm making sure it's a necessity."
For others concerned about exposure, retailers are letting shoppers return unwanted gifts to drop-off sites and are offering curbside returns.
