PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — COVID-19 case numbers are ticking up again.

Montgomery County Commissioner Dr. Val Arkoosh said they are making progress in getting people vaccinated, but only about one-third of the county has received at least one shot so far.

"Our case numbers are actually on their way back up," she said.

Montgomery County is averaging 138 new cases a day over the past seven days, and the positivity rate has climbed just above the benchmark of 5%.

Bucks County is seeing an increase as well. Its seven-day average is up to 222 cases per day — the highest in seven weeks.

Arkoosh reminded the public that nothing has changed, and people still need to be careful.

"When they get around people who don't live in their house, if they're not careful, if they take off their mask, if they get too close for too long, we see spread of this virus," she warned.

Pennsylvania is planning to ease some restrictions on April 4, like allowing bar service and raising capacity limits on places like bowling alleys, gyms, spas, hair salons and movie theaters.

Philadelphia is holding off on relaxing restrictions until the end of April, on the condition that COVID-19 cases decline.
