PENNSAUKEN, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — As Camden County officials work to bring COVID-19 vaccines to different locations to encourage more people to get the shot, a pop-up site is operating on Wednesday in Cooper River Park.
Commissioner Lou Cappelli says the site is open to walk-ins from noon until 5 p.m. The site is not limited to residents of Camden County. Anyone who is there and wants a shot can get one.
"No appointment is necessary. You can walk up, get vaccinated. You can do the same thing at Camden County College on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. So no appointments necessary in Camden County," Cappelli said.
So far, about half of the county’s adult population has had at least one dose, Cappelli says, and he encourages everyone to get vaccinated so life can get back to normal as soon as possible.
"What’s important to remember here is that, for the better good, and for the health of the community, people need to get vaccinated," he said. "People want our businesses to reopen, our bars and restaurants reopen, life to get back to normal. That can’t happen unless we get enough people vaccinated."
Cappelli says he knows some people are hesitant, and he wants them to know the vaccines have widespread medical support for safety and effectiveness.
Walk-ins are also accepted four days a week at the Camden County College campus in Blackwood.
