PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Now in the throws of the holiday season, crews are hauling out the holly and lights for a popular holiday show at one popular Philadelphia Park.
PECO crews were hanging lights on the trees in Franklin Square for the annual Electrical Spectacle Holiday Light Show. Amy Needle is the President & CEO of Historic Philadelphia, the nonprofit that oversees the park. She says the hundreds of thousands of colored lights will be on display starting November 16th.
“Obviously there are so many wonderful ways to celebrate the holidays in Philadelphia,” she said. “Franklin Square, It’s a free light show, and then of course you can take a ride on the Parks Liberty carrousel. You can play Chilly Philly mini golf. It’s mini with winter friends.”
The light show will occur every half-hour from 5 p.m. until closing. Paired with the show will be a soundtrack full of fan-favorite Christmas tunes. The site will also offer fire pits, seasonal foods, hot beverages, and brand new this year: street curling.
The festivities will run through February 15th.
