PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Le Dîner en Blanc is back.
Philadelphia’s elegant pop-up picnic returns this summer, Aug. 12, after a pandemic-caused hiatus.
For Dîner newbies, co-host Natanya DiBona breaks it down: Participants dress in all white, bring their own tables, chairs and dinner, and set up a celebration at a secret location somewhere in the city.
After more than a year of COVID-19-related isolation, she’s thrilled the city has allowed Dîner en Blanc to resume.
“It’s just seeing everyone again,” DiBona enthused. “We started in 2012, so this will be our ninth event.”
The goal is not just to have a nice dinner but to show off the city.
“To see space that might not be normally seen as a spot to congregate transformed,” she said, “and set up so quickly and then break down at the very end is very magical and an amazing communal experience.”
Due to the pandemic, registration will be limited.
“Part of the reduction in size has meant that we were able to look at locations that we had outgrown,” DiBona added.
The waitlist is available now and registration opens later this month. A link will be sent to registered members in the coming weeks.
