PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Jehovah’s Witness member has been sentenced to up to four years in prison for the sexual assault of a child in the late 90s.

In September, David Balosa was found guilty of two aggravated indecent assault charges after prosecutors accused him of befriending and preying upon a young child in 1998.

Balosa, of the Philadelphia area, must register as a sex offender for his entire life and will spend six years on probation.

“For many years, this survivor lived without a sense of justice or closure for crimes that they endured as a child — and without their bravery, this conviction would not have been possible,” said Attorney General Dave Sunday.

Balosa is one of several members of the Jehovah’s Witness congregation who were charged after a statewide grand jury investigation a few years ago.
