PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Two women were killed in a car crash in Chester County Sunday afternoon.
It happened around noon on East Lancaster Avenue, near Brandywine Avenue, in Downingtown.
According to Downingtown police, two women were in a Jeep Grand Cherokee heading east on Lancaster Avenue when the car veered into the westbound lanes. The Jeep then crashed into a concrete wall and caught fire.
Police said the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers, as well as a bystander, helped pull the front-seat passenger from the car. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she died a short time later, authorities said.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash. The names of both victims have not yet been released.
