PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — One person was killed and four others were wounded in a shooting during a large party at a Philadelphia Housing Authority complex in Crescentville overnight.

Around midnight on Adams Avenue, near Rising Sun Avenue, witnesses said they saw two people get out of a car, walk up to where a group was having a barbecue in the courtyard, and fire toward the crowd.

Capt. Luis Higginson said police found three people shot and took them to the hospital, where a man in his 20s died.

Four teenagers, ages 16 to 18, were shot in their ankles, legs, and shoulders but are expected to survive.

Police said they don’t know what sparked the shooting.

On Saturday night, there was gunfire during another large gathering at the same spot, but no one was injured.

“Unknown at this time if this is related,” Higginson said. “We had a large crowd out here [Saturday] night, some kind of party or celebration. Officers responded, dispersed the crowd. Shortly after, we had officers across the street parked, and they heard gunfire; responded over here, found a vehicle that was struck by gunfire, but no individuals that were hit [Saturday] night.”

Detectives are scouring the area for video of both shootings.

There’s a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
