PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police are investigating a string of separate violent crimes overnight, including a disturbing fatal stabbing in West Philadelphia.
Police said a 28-year-old man was stabbed multiple times — across the body and head — at 48th and Sansom streets. It happened around 1 a.m. Monday.
He was taken to the hospital, where he died a short time later.
In the Northeast, police are investigating another stabbing that left an 18-year-old man wounded. It happened just after 11:30 p.m. Sunday on Castor Avenue, near Knorr Street, in Oxford Circle.
Officials are also looking into a shooting in North Philadelphia that injured two men. It happened shortly after midnight at 29th and Gordon streets in Strawberry Mansion. Investigators found more than 30 spent shell casings at the scene.
A 30-year-old man was shot in the arm and both legs. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. A 34-year-old man was shot in the leg and foot; he is stable.
