PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Two universities in Delaware have received the "all clear" to return to normal activity after being evacuated Tuesday morning as police investigated possible campus threats.
In a post on social media, Delaware State University in Dover said it received a bomb threat just before 11 a.m. The university evacuated all buildings and canceled classes for the rest of the day “out of an abundance of caution.” Authorities cleared campus buildings, and university officials said campus will reopen on Wednesday.
The University of Delaware in Newark also reported receiving a bomb threat that led to the evacuation of three school buildings. An investigation by university and local police found no evidence of an explosive device and no active campus safety threat.
Two Maryland schools, Morgan State University in Baltimore and Towson University in Towson, also received threats. Officials at both universities declared no active threats after law enforcement thoroughly swept buildings on each campus.
Both Delaware State and Morgan State are HBCUs (historically Black colleges or universities).
