PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Pennsylvania is rolling out its Emergency Rental Assistance Program across the state, and as of Friday, Delaware County residents can register to apply.
More than $37 million is available for Delaware County’s grant program, which assists renters who have suffered disruption and loss of income due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“This really is one of the most important programs that we have been able to put forward during this crisis,” said Delco Councilmember Elaine Paul Schaefer. “There has been a moratorium on evictions so we have really staved this off for an entire year, but when and if that ever gets lifted, we would be in a very bad place without this aid. So we feel really grateful to the federal government and the state government for making this money available so that we can help keep our residents in their homes.”
The program will pay for past due rent, the largest past due utility bill, and up to three months of future eligible housing and utility expenses, totaling up to 15 months of assistance.
