MEDIA, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — This week, Delaware County kicks off the 50th season of the Rose Tree Summer Festival, its summer concert series at Rose Tree Park in Media. Concertgoers will now be able to enjoy the lineup of shows with some upgraded amenities.

More than $400,000 in renovations have been completed just in time for the start of the concert series, including a new roof and staging floor for the park’s amphitheater, as well as new, ADA-compliant restrooms.

“We have new changing tables. We have new handwashing sinks, new toilets, new fixtures and everything is energy efficient,” said Delaware County Public Works Director Danielle Floyd.

Floyd said the upgrades have been made to facilities that have not had renovations in more than four decades, which had kept them from making full use of the amphitheater.

“We haven’t had dance performances in some time because the floors weren’t one that could support that,” she said.

This year, Floyd said audiences of all ages can enjoy a variety of shows in a much better way than in years past.

“Everything from rock to classic, to oldies to current,” she said. “There are about 50 on the roster for this summer.”

The dozens of performers include the Delaware County Symphony and Rose Tree Pops, the Fabulous Greaseband, Minas and the Sensational Soul Cruisers. Concerts take place Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., through Aug. 10.
