DOVER (KYW Newsradio) — Delaware Governor John Carney said the first drawing in his state's new COVID-19 vaccine incentive program was a success.
Delewareans who got a shot this past week and all vaccinated 12-to-17 year olds were eligible.
"This week, we picked a $5,000 winner. You know who you are, or you will know who you are soon, when the DPH reaches out to you. I have no idea who you are," admitted Governor Carney.
"Two Delaware State Parks passes, so seasonal park passes to two of the winners are in the raffle, and then Wilmington Blue Rocks luxury suite."
The next drawing was scheduled for later this week.
The state is also helping pay for businesses to offer their own incentives.
Free theater tickets, a spaghetti dinner and cookies are examples of what's now up for grabs for people if they show their vaccine card.
Every vaccinated Delawarean is eligible for the $302,000 grand prize drawing at the end of the month.
