PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — “Delco: The Movie” will debut at the Media Theatre this weekend after more than 20 years in the making.
The completely crowd-funded film, directed by Aston’s Chris Pierdomenico, follows three high schoolers on a wild night out in Delaware County and pays homage to Pierdomenico’s experience growing up there.
“I think everybody has their own Delco in a way,” he said. “We all have that kind of weird, complicated relationship with our hometown.”
“I hope that that comes across… That even if you’re not from Delco, you can kind of relate to this quirky relationship we have with home.”
Pierdomenico says he couldn’t have done it without the many local businesses they partnered with. And, of course, some former teachers.
“Actually, I brought back teachers of mine that are retired to play themselves in very brief roles,” he said.
The film runs Saturday, Jan. 18, through Monday, Jan. 20. A lot of the showings are already sold out, but there are still tickets available for Sunday and Monday night.
