Philly School District gives parents chance to opt kids into hybrid learning

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The School District of Philadelphia is giving parents another chance to opt into in-person instruction for their kids.

For one week, starting Tuesday, March 16, parents of pre-K through second-graders can choose a hybrid model of classes, in which students go to school in-person two days a week.

If parents don't make a choice, their children will remain in all-virtual classes. Those who opt-in would start the hybrid model the week of April 5.

The selection window has been closed since the fall when 9,000 of 30,000 eligible students opted into a hybrid of two days a week in classrooms and three days of digital learning.

The district started its hybrid in-person education at 53 elementary schools this week. Forty-five more schools reopen on Monday.
