PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A woman who was on the ground when a medical transport jet crashed in Northeast Philadelphia earlier this year has died from her injuries.
On Jan. 31, a plane carrying six Mexican nationals, including a pediatric patient and her mother, went down on Cottman Avenue, near the Roosevelt Mall. All six aboard were killed.
One other person on the ground was killed at the time of the crash, and dozens were injured.
Dominique Goods Burke was inside a car near the mall when the jet crashed, causing the vehicle to catch fire. She was severely burned and had been hospitalized since then, but she died from her injuries on April 27. She was 34 years old.
Burke was a mother and worked as the day bake supervisor at High Point Cafe in West Mount Airy. The restaurant posted a memorial to Burke on social media, saying she was a “fighter until the end.”
A GoFundMe for Burke raised more than $35,000 in the three months since the crash to help pay for her medical expenses. Donations picked up again after the news of her death.
Burke’s death brings the death toll from the plane crash to eight victims.
