PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities have arrested and charged a man accused of killing a woman while driving under the influence in Port Richmond late last year.
Elijah Vines, 31, is charged with murder, DUI, homicide by vehicle, and other offenses in connection with the incident.
It was around to 2 a.m. on Dec. 27 when police said Vines was driving his Nissan Titan truck at an unsafe speed on Aramingo Avenue, near East Tioga Street when he lost control on the icy road and suddenly collided head-on with a Volkswagen Jetta driven by 45-year-old Barbara Skurska.
Skurska was taken to the hospital, where she died about a half-hour later. Vines and a 29-year-old female passenger in his vehicle were also hospitalized following the crash.
He was arrested Wednesday on Castor Avenue, one block from where the accident occurred.
