
PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police say a driver struck a pedestrian in Fairhill Friday afternoon then fled the scene.
It happened around 1 p.m. as the victim was crossing East Germantown Avenue in a marked crosswalk area.
Police say as the victim crossed, a white work van traveling eastbound on Cambria Street hit them as they were turning left onto Germantown Avenue, then drove away.
Officials later found the work van on Langdon Street and towed it for investigation.
The pedestrian is currently receiving treatment at a hospital for injuries sustained in the accident. Officials say the person is in critical condition with a broken back, hip, ribs, wrist and leg.
So far, no arrests have been made. Police ask anyone with information to contact the department’s Crash Investigation Division at 215-685-3181.
