MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — The owner of the dump truck involved in a crash that killed a pregnant woman in Audubon, Montgomery County, last summer has been sentenced to 3 ½ to seven years in state prison.

Judge Risa Ferman called it “the worst case of homicide by vehicle this court has ever seen.”

Patrick Doran, 24, pleaded guilty to homicide by vehicle after he was accused of using a fake name to buy the truck, failing to maintain it, then failing to make sure the driver was qualified.

That driver, Everett Clayton, of Charleston, West Virginia, crashed head-on into an SUV driven by 31-year-old Kellie Adams on South Park Avenue on Aug. 25, 2022.

Adams was eight months pregnant. She and her unborn daughter were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say Clayton admitted he had been drinking before the crash. His blood-alcohol level was .076, just under the legal limit of .08.

Clayton is awaiting trial on charges of murder and homicide by vehicle.
