PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man who allegedly shot and killed a Dunkin' Donuts manager in North Philadelphia earlier in June now faces a charge in the shooting death of his own mother.
The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office has charged Keith Gibson with the February murder of Christine Gibson in February. She was 54.
Authorities say evidence from the scene matches the gun that investigators recovered when the suspect was arrested in Delaware eight days ago.
Investigators believe the weapon used to kill Gibson's mother is the same one used to kill Christine Lugo, the manager of the Dunkin' Donuts location in the Fairhill neighborhood. He is accused of shooting Lugo during a holdup.
Gibson, 39, is in custody in Delaware after allegedly shooting a store clerk and robbing a Rite Aid in Wilmington last week. He was held in jail on $305,000 bail.
He may be tied to more than a half-dozen shootings in Philadelphia and Delaware, including a double murder in Germantown in January.
The Philadelphia Police Department is working with Delaware officials to put together a timeline and build each case.
A statement from the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office extended condolences to everyone mourning the death of Christine Gibson and the other victims of the suspect's alleged crimes.
