PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Now that this year’s primary election is in the rearview mirror, Pennsylvanians can buckle up for what promises to be an eventful campaign season between now and November.

Political science professor and polling director at Muhlenberg College, Christopher Borick, said four races in eastern and central Pennsylvania will go a long way toward deciding whether Republicans or Democrats control the U.S. House, including Bucks County’s seat.

Borick said Democrats have done well in Bucks County over the past several election cycles.

“The one exception is with Congressman [Brian] Fitzpatrick, who's been able to hold on in different cycles with different challenges against a different array of Democratic nominees, and he's going to be tested once again.”

Fitzpatrick has a challenge from Democratic County Commissioner Bob Harvie, and Borick called Fitzpatrick’s public spat with President Donald Trump over Fitzpatrick’s opposition to Trump’s $1.8 billion “anti-weaponization fund” a gift heading into the election, allowing him to distance himself from an unpopular president.

Borick said that with key races in the First Congressional District, Lehigh Valley’s 7th, northeastern Pennsylvania’s 8th, and central Pennsylvania’s 10th, significant resources will be poured into the state.

In the governor’s race, Republican Stacy Garrity is endorsed by Trump, but Borick said that support will not carry the same weight as it did in 2024, with Trump’s approval rating in the 30s, especially with independents and moderates.
