PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Several Tony-winning musicals will take the stage in Philly starting this summer.
Ensemble Arts’ 2025-2026 Broadway season, in partnership with The Shubert Organization, features the return of some classics like “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” and new hits like “The Outsiders.” But Frances Egler, vice president of Theatrical Programming and Presentations for Ensemble Arts, is especially excited that Philadelphia audiences will see shows they might have missed on Broadway.
“What's wonderful is being able to find shows that really people loved, and for one reason or another, didn't have a long Broadway run, and having them find that second life out on touring… and having people getting the chance to discover just the amazing music… you know, they don't have to go to New York to see it,” Egler said.
Those shows include the musical adaptation of the romance novel and movie “The Notebook;” a musical about the women’s suffrage movement called “Suffs;” and “Shucked;” a comedy about a small country town and their corn.
Thirteen shows are coming to the Academy of Music, the Miller Theater and Forrest Theater beginning this July. The full list and subscription packages are available at ensembleartsphilly.org.
