PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police in Delaware County are searching for a man who touched a 12-year-old girl inappropriately at a Dollar Tree in Prospect Park.
It happened Monday afternoon, between 4 and 5 p.m., at the Dollar Tree on Chester Pike, near Summit Avenue.
Police said the young girl showed remarkable composure by acting quickly to protect her younger sister.
Authorities said after the man inappropriately touched her, the girl got her little sister and ran into a bathroom, locked the door, and called for help. The police chief said her actions were “exactly the right thing to do” and likely helped prevent the situation from escalating.
Police said the girl is safe, and she was not physically injured.
Investigators are trying to identify the man. After the incident, police said he headed west on Chester Pike and into the McDonald’s, where he changed his appearance. He then went toward Ridley Park.
