PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — New Jersey’s former lieutenant governor, Dale Caldwell, has been suspended by his church.
Episcopal officials said it’s over “concerns raised” by the independent investigation that led the Democrat to resign last week. It found Caldwell sexually harassed a staffer and a friend who turned down his advances, and that he tried to get a promotion for a state employee he was dating.
The local Episcopal bishop told the Philadelphia Inquirer that Caldwell “has been placed on suspension while the complaint is processed.”
Caldwell is the senior pastor at Covenant United Methodist Church in Plainfield, Union County.
He has denied any wrongdoing.
Caldwell called this move by church officials “a piling on, and it’s crazy.”
