PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — An FBI special agent is recovering after accidentally discharging his weapon and shooting himself in the leg Monday morning, sources tell KYW Newsradio.
The FBI said it happened at the loading dock of the federal building on Seventh and Arch streets in Center City.
Officials said the agent received medical attention for minor injuries.
The agent, who has not been identified, was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
The FBI said in a statement that it "takes all shooting incidents involving our agents or task force members seriously" and an FBI team is investigating.
"The review process is thorough and objective, and is conducted as expeditiously as possible under the circumstances," the statement said.
