It is important to provide shoppers with clear explanations of what types of food are healthy. A significant amount of our food is designed to appear healthy when it is not.
The FDA has taken a big step to help by updating its dietary guidelines for America for the first time in three decades.
Thirty years ago, it focused on specific vitamin and nutrient levels. The updated definitions look at healthy foods focused on vegetables, fruits, proteins, dairy and grains.
