SOUTH JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — Federal charges have been filed against the man believed to be behind a bomb scare last summer in Hamilton Township, Mercer County.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey has charged 52-year-old Jeremy Giliberti, of Mount Laurel, with possessing four destructive devices.
Authorities said Giliberti was pulled over in July 2023, and when police searched his car, they found four homemade pipe bombs inside a duffel bag.
That prompted a massive police response. Nearby homes and businesses were evacuated, and the bomb squad was called in to remove and destroy the explosive devices.
Investigators found a fifth bomb when they searched Giliberti’s home.
He faces up to 10 years in prison and $250,000 in fines if convicted.
