PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police are looking for a man they said attempted to steal a package from a porch in the city’s Feltonville section over the weekend — and ended up in two separate shootouts with the homeowner and police.

According to police, a 50-year-old homeowner was watching his home security camera on Sunday night when he saw someone try to take a package from the porch of his home, located on the 400 block of East Rockland Street near C Street.

Officials said the homeowner came out of his house with a gun and pointed it towards the ground, firing it once. The suspect started to run away and then allegedly turned and fired his own gun several times at the homeowner.

Two officers in the area heard the shots and encountered the suspect running away. According to authorities, the suspect fired at one of the officers. That officer fired back several times.

No one was hit in the exchanges and the suspect got away. A .40 caliber handgun and a jacket believed to belong to the suspect were recovered from the scene.

Investigators said both of the officer's body cameras were activated during the incident.

As with all officer-involved shootings, the officer who fired his service weapon has been placed on administrative duty, pending the outcome of the investigation.
