UPPER DARBY, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — At least one person is hospitalized after a two-alarm fire broke out in two connected homes Monday morning. The fire brought a massive response from fire, police and EMS crews in Upper Darby.
This gutted home, behind caution tape on West Chester Pike near Township Line Road, is now just a windowless shell of its former self.
The first call reporting a fire came in at around 6:30 a.m. in one of two connected houses. By 7 a.m., the fire had spread to the other connected home and set off a second alarm.
The fire trapped people inside, according to initial reports, but all were able to escape with the help of first responders.
At least one person with injuries was taken to a hospital.
By 8:30 a.m., crews responding from at least three nearby fire departments had the scene under control and were putting out the remaining hot spots in the home.
