PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Six people, including three children, were injured when fire tore through a stretch of row homes in Kensington Monday evening.

Around 6 p.m., fire crews responded to Reach Street, between East Tioga and East Ontario streets. There was heavy fire on the first floor of a two-story row home, and the flames spread quickly, officials said.

Two other homes were severely damaged by the fire. A fourth home was damaged as well, though not as badly as the others.

Anthony Aquilino was coming home from work when the fire started.

“Trying to run and get here as fast as I can. I come home, they don’t let me on the block. I try to explain to them, that’s my house, my people,” Aquilino told NBC10.

“My uncle was picking up the recycling bins and noticed it and tried to get everybody out of the house. And by the time he went in the house to tell them, my mom said the house is already engulfed in flames and heavy smoke.”

Aquilino said he was grateful that everyone in his family, including their dog, made it out alive.

Three children and three adults were treated at the scene and taken to the hospital, officials said. All are in stable condition except for one adult. The exact condition of that person was not released.

The Philadelphia Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
