TRENTON, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — The former head of a community organization in Camden has been selected to serve as the next CEO of New Jersey Transit.

Kris Kolluri will replace Kevin Corbett, who announced he’s leaving NJT on Jan. 15. The NJT Board of Directors unanimously voted to confirm him on Wednesday.

Kolluri currently serves as the chief executive of the Gateway Development Commission, overseeing the $16.1 billion Hudson Tunnel Project. Prior to that, he headed Camden Community Partnership from 2018 to 2022, which worked to bring development and investment to improve quality of life for residents. Kolluri has also served as CEO of the Rowan University/Rutgers-Camden Board of Governors.

“Kris Kolluri has played a vital role in strengthening our region’s transit infrastructure, and I am confident in his ability to lead NJ TRANSIT as we work to deliver the reliable, efficient, and modernized mass transit system that New Jerseyans deserve,” said Gov. Phil Murphy.

Kolluri said he looks forward to “putting NJ TRANSIT on a pathway to carry out the improvements that customers expect and deserve.”
