WEST CHESTER, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — A former Sharon Hill police officer who was assigned as a school resource officer at Academy Park High School is ordered to stand trial on rape and child-sexual-assault charges in Chester County.
The three people accusing 21-year-old Tyler Humphreys testified at his preliminary hearing, saying Humphreys was well known to them.
The first said she was at Humphreys’ home in Malvern in December of 2022, when she was 15 and he was 20. She said he gave her shots of liquor and then, later that night, she woke up to find Humphreys fondling her. She said he took off her clothes and raped her. Then, the next morning, Humphreys bought her an emergency contraceptive pill and warned her she could get in trouble if she told anyone, she said.
Another accuser said, in late 2022, Humphreys encouraged her to take a larger-than-recommended dose of Benadryl allergy medication. She said, when she woke up next to Humphreys, her clothes were disheveled and she had pain associated with being raped.
The third accuser said he was 9-years-old in 2014, when Humphreys, then 12, showed him pornographic videos, then encouraged him to engage in oral sex.
“My client has entered a plea of not guilty with the court and he intends to vigorously defend the charges at trial,” said Humpreys’ lawyer, Elliot Cohen.
Humphreys was hired as a Sharon Hill police officer assigned to Academy Park High School in September last year. The school district says he was fired when charges were made public.
