PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Longtime Montgomery County state Sen. Stewart Greenleaf Sr. has died.
Greenleaf, a Republican, served 10 terms in the Pennsylvania Senate where he represented Montgomery County and parts of Bucks County.
He was first elected to the state Senate in 1979 and retired in 2019.
Senate leaders Jake Corman and Kim Ward said Greenleaf is best remembered for helping crime victims, working to fight human trafficking, and coming up with legislation to allow child crime victims to testify by closed-circuit television.
They also point to his work to offer treatment options over jail terms for people battling addiction. And, they said, his Donate Life PA law helped increase organ and tissue donation in Pennsylvania.
Stewart Greenleaf was 81 years old.
