PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A woman who was severely injured after being struck by a car on Broad Street last year has been identified.
Philadelphia authorities said the woman was hit after walking into traffic on Broad Street near Wyoming avenue on May 18, 2025. The driver did stop and did not face charges.
Officials said the victim was found without identification, only a receipt from Acme. in a coma for a while, but is now responsive, though still unable to communicate.
"She lost her leg; it had to be amputated," said Bill Fleisher, an investigator with the Keystone Intelligence Network, earlier this month, "and the fact that she is not moving around, there may be some swelling in her facial features that haven’t subsided."
The woman is from the South Jersey area. Authorities will not release her name, but said they are working to reconnect her with family members and get her moved to a rehabilitation facility.
