PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A big brand of baby formula could be dangerous.

Gerber's Good Start SoothePro Powdered Infant Formula is getting pulled off shelves again, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Certain batches were recalled by the FDA a few months ago because officials said the formula may have been contaminated with Cronobacter sakazakii, a bacterium that can cause deadly infections in infants.

However, the product was still shipped to at least eight states after the warning, mostly in the South. That means stores will have to stop selling the product immediately.

Good Start formula manufactured between Jan. 2 and Jan. 18 by parent company Perrigo Co. at its Wisconsin facility is included in the recall.

Parents are also urged to check labels before feeding babies. Recalled formula can be identified by its lot codes and "use by" dates.

So far, there have been no reports of any illnesses.

Cronobacter sakazakii was the same bacterium at the center of last year's recall of Abbott Nutrition formula, which led to a nationwide formula shortage.
